Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, gathering tools and weapons. They provide an extra benefit or impact while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors or players, looted or obtained as rewards, or made with crafting materials. In addition to offering attribute bonuses Upgrade items also have cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components include inscriptions enhancements, and infusions. They are not accessible to the general public and can only be used on equipment that is ascended or certain weapons that aren't ascended from the Factions Campaign. Infusions, inscriptions, and enrichments can be retrieved from equipment with an Infusion Extraction Device. They can also be salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Phoenix Boxes, unlike other upgrade items can be traded and re-used when still attached to the item that they are upgrading. These upgrade items are the most effective option to boost weapon and armor quality without spending Dilithium, as they can increase the likelihood of receiving a high-quality upgrade by two times.
Upgrade components can be added to an item however, the original one is destroyed (except for legendaries and Ascended equipment). Only upgraded items that have an identification level of 0 or higher can have upgrade components added to them. Adding item upgrading to an item that is already equipped with a prefix or suffix upgrade will display the name of the resulting item as it would appear in game (for instance adding the Radiant Insignia to Canthan Armor will cause it to be referred to as Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). A player can own up to three upgrade items at a time.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a useful addition to any item, since they provide a variety of unique advantages and boosts. Some Glyphs can also increase the number of affixes on an item, increasing the overall power of the item. These glyphs can be obtained by working through the dungeons. They can also be found in specific World Tier 3 zones. It's important to remember that glyphs are only available to players who have created a dungeon that has the same level of depth.
To make use of a Glyph you first have to create it using components and then connect them using anchors. The component will then automatically align itself to other components or paths within the same layer. If you don't wish to create the glyph from components, you can create it by combining paths and anchors. Then, drag an element near an element highlighted to lock it in place.
Certain glyphs require certain requirements to be fulfilled, such as 25 Dexterity in a particular area on the Paragon Board. Certain glyphs also require a certain number of Primary Stat nodes to be activated which is sometimes difficult to achieve. Some glyphs have a radius that increases as you move it up.
Glyphs can be applied to various items and weapons, except for those of a specific class. Some of these glyphs also have conditions for example, like having a certain amount of Dexterity or Attack damage in a specific area on the Paragon board.
The Defend Glyph gives you a 5% chance to deflect attacks from enemies. It also has an opportunity of 15% to render the Hero vulnerable for two turns.
Some glyphs can also be applied to restricted use tools, like the Black Lion Chest and Trading Post. The addition of these glyphs will be counted towards the Combat Mechanic achievement.
The most popular glyphs used in the game are the attack ones, which increase Artifacts' ATK substats by a fixed amount. They are especially beneficial for ranged classes such as Warriors and Rogues. The Exploit Glyph can make enemies who strike the Hero vulnerable to damage.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to reroll results that are rolled during an Action. They are removed when the reroll happens. Reroll tokens can be gained in a variety of ways, such as through raids, dungeons, and skirmishes. You can also purchase them at the shop or from other players. They are particularly useful in dungeons or trials because they let players play a reroll of rewards of the final chest.
The values for recycling points are provided for items that are at level 1. The upgrade gauge will grow by a specific amount of points when you recycle an item. This is based on the rarity of the item and its level. The upgraded item will also not retain its level if recycled, and the cost to recycle an upgraded item rises as its level increases.
Alternatively, a player can use reroll tokens to reroll an upgrade item, but this will not bring the item back to its original state or give it its original stats. This is useful for those who wish to reroll a product they don't like and want to keep it in their collection.
Three types of upgrade coins are available in the game - the reroll, the randomly generated, and upgrade. Each type comes with a couple of subtypes. For instance, tokens that reroll come in three different levels: enhanced, rare and legendary. Each requires an item of the respective level to produce an item of that quality.
To make use of rerolling tokens choose "Reroll Token" by right-clicking on the Satanic or Angelic items in your inventory. Select the type of token. The tokens that are available include Item Weapon, Misc, 1hgun, 2hgun and Focus. Utilizing an Item token will produce the creation of a new Item of any quality. A Weapon or Misc token produces a new weapon belonging to the same faction.
The item could be upgraded to a different item with similar stats, but at a higher level. This could happen if the item has been placed in the Pool that is not droppable or if it was transferred there as part of a franchise card.
